CLINICAL POSTING SO FAR.

 Hi everyone,

Easter is tomorrow and I’m excited about it. I'm feeling a bit sad that I couldn't go home, but hey, Happy Easter! In my last post, I said I would write about my clinical posting, so here it is.

My first clinical posting began on the 17th of March. The class was divided into two groups, which were Medicine and Surgery. I was in the first group, which was Medicine. Honestly, I was more anxious than excited to begin because now, it was not just about theory anymore. It now includes actual interactions with patients, practising physical examination, getting to meet patients who would love to talk to you and those who wouldn’t, and presentations to your consultant while he corrects you a million times about how your presentation should be, not to mention the long hours of standing and listening to bedside teachings, trying to jot down the numerous information you should know. Well, that sums it up.

But for me, it was the moment when I needed to stop being shy and scared. I had told myself some times that I needed to leave my shell, but the realisation that it needed to happen soon frightened me. Although I didn’t present so much, the few times I did, I was a bit shaky, and it didn’t go unnoticed, not even by my consultant. We worked in subgroups of twos and threes, and I found myself stepping back for the other people in the group. I was still in that shell, and I hated it so much.

On the 15th of April, our group started Surgery posting while the other group started Medicine posting. We haven’t done much in this posting yet, but let’s see how it goes.

I hope you enjoy this post as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Bye, see you soon.

  1. I remember you shaking during your presentation. Just a little more presentations and you'd be fine.
